Description:
As the principal producers, we are looking for a versatile someone who possesses a number of skills and abilities to help with different aspects of both the creative process and project management. The Assistant Producer will at times work closely with a Principal Producer, and at other times work fairly independently depending on a project’s particular requirements. The candidate can expect to work in our offices in Rangiora, although time to time there may be requests to assist a production on location, which could be anywhere in New Zealand or the world.

Job Duties and Tasks:
During pre-production, the Assistant Producer will need to help with:
   • content research,
   • organizing and tracking project progress,
   • scheduling,
   • communication with involved personnel,
   • costing/budgeting of projects, and
   • other related activities.

During production, they will assist with:
   • scheduling and coordinating shoots,
   • making travel arrangements,
   • researching and sourcing stock footage and any other program assets,
   • setting up interviews, and
   • other related activities.

Post-production has the Assistant Producer helping to:
   • set up the post-production schedule and edit,
   • clear archival footage rights,
   • identify promotion and distribution opportunities including managing our social media presence,
   • research subject affinity groups,
   • blogs and forums,
   • related events, and
   • finding other ways to leverage common purpose to facilitate our programs’ utilization.
   • The Assistant Producer will also support our outreach efforts to broadcast and narrow-cast programming.

The Assistant Producer may also be involved in and or in charge of keeping accurate accounts over the hole life cycle of a project, making sure cost are kept within budget.

Experience:
The Assistant Producer will hold some qualification and experience in administration idly with a at least a bachelor’s degree and be skilled in research and documentation techniques. The candidate does NOT need a degree in film or video production, although previous experience with various aspects of film and video creation will be an advantage. Must be able to manage social media, possess research skills, have good spelling and writing skills, perform basic video editing and be familiar with adobe products like Photoshop and Premier pro, be able to use Microsoft offices, and have some project management experience. This person needs to write cogently and clearly, be familiar with office systems and running accounts, and be a social media whiz.

Personal Qualities:
We are looking for someone who has experience in film and video (trading can be given to the right person), is highly motivated, adaptable, eager and quick to learn, self-reliant, resourceful, and takes initiative. He or she needs to be a good problem-solver. The Associate Producer will also be someone who is pleasant, good-natured, easy to work with, and reasonably calm in the face of deadlines and adversity.
